The ArtRwanda-Ubuhanzi is a televised nationwide talent search project implemented by Imbuto Foundation in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth since 2018. The project identifies and supports young and talented Rwandans within the creative arts industry in 9 different categories (Film making, Photography, Digital Art, Acting & Drama, Dance, Fashion Design, Music, Literature, Visual and Plastic Arts). FILMMAKING

Video creation and production (filming, directing, editing, documentaries, short films, promotional and commercial videos)


PHOTOGRAPHY

Images captured using cameras (portraits, events, commercial, artistic, and documentary photography)

DIGITAL ARTS

Graphic Designers, Digital Illustrators & Animators

Graphic Designers: visual content for branding (logos, posters, social media, UI designs)
Digital Illustrators: digital drawings and artwork (graphics, comics, concept art)
Animators: motion visuals (2D/3D animation, video graphics, short clips)


ACTING & DRAMA

Stage Acting, Film Acting, Comedy

ROAD MAP





AUDITIONS AT THE DISTRICT LEVEL

Young Rwandan talents from all over the country will audition from their district, where the best will be selected, as per the six categories.




AUDITIONS AT THE PROVINCIAL LEVEL

Contestants selected at the district level will continue to the provincial level auditions, which will be held in Kigali.




PRE-FINAL PHASE

During the pre-final stage, contestants who were selected during auditions at the Provincial level, will audition in front of a panel of judges, which will select the best as per category.

Selected contestants will then move forward to the next phase, which is the boot-camp.




BOOT-CAMP PHASE

70 Selected contestants will be mentored about developing pitching, entrepreneurship, business skills, among others. These contestants will be placed into 6 groups per artistic categories.

The groups will then be given a challenge to develop a project that is artistic, generates income, showcasing sustainability and employment opportunities for youth in a specific creative arts industry.

During this phase, the contestants will also be supported with finalizing their projects that will be presented at the Youth Forum Series.




GRAND FINALE

After a two months intensive training, three emerging winners in their categories will be picked, with the top winner receiving Rwf 1 Million. The second and third winner will receive Rwf 700 000 and Rwf 500 000 respectively.

The three best projects will win, each, Rwf 10,000,000 seed funding.
