Cultural and Creative Art Rrecovery Grant FAQs
What is the CCI recovery grant?The Cultural and Creative Art recovery grant fund is a Rwf 300 Million basket which was initiated by the Ministry of Youth and Culture and Imbuto Foundation to support the recovery of the Cultural and Creative Industry by providing support to innovative projects that will impact many young artists.
Who are the organizers of CCI recovery grant?
The Cultural and Creative Art recovery progamme is implemented by Imbuto Foundation in partnership with the Ministry of Youth and Culture, KOICA and UNDP. Most specifically the CCI recovery grants will be run by Business Professional Network (BPN) who will review applications, ensure a fair selection, and provide capacity building services to the selected projects.
What is the goal of CCI recovery grant?
First, the CCI recovery grant seeks to support 30 innovative and scalable projects, which will impact artists ability to increase revenue, sustain and grow employment opportunities. Under NST1, The Government of Rwanda intends to create 1,500,000 decent and productive jobs for economic development from various interventions and sub-sectors including creative arts as one of the growing and promising industries.
Secondly, the CCI Recovery Grant aims to achieve the following outcome:
- New jobs and services will be created and/or supported, in the innovations supporting COVID19 response.
- Increase technical and entrepreneurship skills among key players in the Cultural and Creative Industry.
- Digital Commercialisation: through skills building, digital solutions and other access to market solutions targeted at the CCIs.
- Increased revenues for Artists: emanating from Increased interest of the local and regional market in consuming Made in Rwanda art.
- Increased capacity of CCI players to cope with changing market dynamics - improving skills, diversifying offering based on current demand, going digital.
- New solutions for the formalization of the Cultural and Creative Industry.
Who can participate in the CCI recovery grant?
This project is open to all Rwandan nationals most specifically:
a. Individual artist b. An organization in the Creative and Cultural Industry c. An organization in another sector (ICT, multimedia, e-commerce) that aims to support artists in the Creative and Cultural Industry
Where do we apply or submit our project?
The Project proposals should be submitted to the website of ArtRwanda- Ubuhanzi Project on the window named grants application. It has 2 versions” online and downloadable form both in Kinyarwanda and English Apply on: www.artrwanda.rw
Can groups take part in the project and be selected as a group?
Yes. Groups, enterprise or company can apply for the grant.
When the grant application will be closed
Grants application opened on 24 July and will close on 7th August 2020, midnight.
Is there enough gender representation in the competition?
Gender equality is encouraged in this grant competition.
Who will select the top winners of the project?
Winners will be selected by a panel of judges with expertise in fields such as Cultural and Creative Art Industry, entrepreneurship and innovation.
The criteria will be:
- The originality and relevance of the projects,
- Its targets population and expected impact,
- observed research made on the subject, (if applicable),
- Economic impact - jobs to be sustained or created
- Sustainability.
- Team credentials
What kind of financial and technical support will CCI recovery grant provide to the top winners?
The CCI recovery grant will start with selection of sustainable and scalable art projects. The top 30 projects will be awarded with seed funding of Rwf 5,000,000 to 10,000,000 each and will be provided with 6 months of business training & coaching Grant disbursement.
The grant will be disbursed in 2 installments.
The second installment will be disbursement upon the performance evaluation report and how you used the 1st installment Whoever misuses the grant will be investigated and charged by relevant authorities with aim of returning grant.
